Marianne Osiel

Marianne-Osiel

Singer/Songwriter/Multi-instrumentalist

A passionate songwriter and a diversely talented musician (oboe, flute, piano, voice, and strings), Marianne found her songwriting “voice” out of her classical roots. Soon after music school, she headed to Nashville, where she played by day in the Nashville Symphony, while by night played her original music with her own band (with slide guitar), sang backup with such artists as Ashley Cleveland, Gary Nicholsen, Delbert McClinton, John Hall, Jonelle Mosser, cowrote with songwriters Alan Miller, Ray Kennedy, Johnny Neel, or Lisa Aschmann.

Marianne has also been “first-call” recording musician on the oboe and English horn, recording with such luminaries as George Massenburg, Roy Orbison, John Hall, Ashley Cleveland, Rachel Sage, and Rob Mathes. She toured with John Hall (Orleans, Bonnie Raitt) in 1999-2000, as backup slide guitarist, oboist and vocalist (also opening his shows), and jammed with legends from Delbert McClinton to Gatemouth Brown to Jackson Browne to Jack DeJohnette. In both 1999 and 2000, after completing her first self-produced CD, “Strange Girl”, Marianne played as a headliner at Kerrville Music Festival. As an arranger, some of the string quartet arrangements Marianne has for are David Olney, Bob Hillman, Susan Piper, as well as her own CD’s.

Since heading to New York, she has completed “Full Of Wholes” (an acoustic solo album), and “How The Light Gets In”, an all improvisational CD featuring Marianne on oboe and English horn with four distinctly different keyboardists, and is currently working on a new singer/songwriter CD.

Marianne’s music is on Facebook, Reverbnation, and CD Baby. Her striking ‘live’ work can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/user/maitrimusic/videos
